Hard to believe delivering paté on a bicycle as a teen would create an award winning Canadian chef!

Executive Chef

Growing up in Parksville, British Columbia, Iain Rennie discovered at a young age, his dreams of becoming a chef. With his grandfather a commercial baker and father an Executive Chef, Iain was able to discover and strengthen his culinary expertise right at home. At the age of 11, Iain got his first taste of victory when he traveled with his father to his first ever food show in Seattle, Washington and walked away with a gold medal. Chef Rennie knew then he would continue in his father’s footsteps to become a chef. By 13, Iain was establishing connections in the culinary world, selling pate on his bicycle to local restaurants.

Iain began his culinary career after graduating with honours from Vancouver Island University Culinary Program. Since then he has skillfully risen to the top of the culinary scene in British Columbia. Under the guidance of internationally renowned Chef Ernst Dorfler, Chef Rennie worked as an apprentice at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver, BC. He then ventured overseas and worked with the brigade at the world famous Savoy Hotel in London, England, London’s Anton Mosimann as First Commis, then back to British Columbia as Sous Chef at the Pan Pacific. Iain then served as Executive Sous Chef at Victoria’s iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel, obtained Chef’s position with the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, Executive Chef at Vancouver’s Fairmont Waterfront followed by Executive Chef at the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa in Victoria, Executive Chef at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel and now resides in Kelowna, BC leading the culinary team at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre® as Executive Chef.
